Recount Text

 

Recount Text adalah salah satu dari jenis teks bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan kembali kejadian-kejadian atau pengalaman-pengalaman di masa lampau.

Tujuan dari Recount Text adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau untuk menghibur pembaca. Di dalam Recount Text tidak terdapat komplikasi (Complication)

A.     Uraian Materi

Bahan ajar meliputi video dan beberapa teks recount berjudul “My experience met with Taufik Hidayat”, “The Battle of Surabaya” dan “BJ Habibie”. Hal ini diharapkan Peserta didik mampu memahami dan membedakan :

1.      Pengertian Recount Text

A recount text is a text which tells about something that happened in the past. The details in a recount can include what happened, who was involved, where it took place, when it happened and why it occurred.

2.      Fungsi Sosial

The purpose of a recount is to list and describe past experiences by retelling events in the order in which they happened (chronological order). Recounts are written to retell events with the purpose of either informing or entertaining their audience (or both).

3.      Jenis Recount Text

·         Personal Recount ( pribadi)

Yaitu menceritakan tentang pengalaman pribadi penulis

·          Factual Recount (fakta)

Yaitu laporan peristiwa yang benar-benar terjadi, seperti sejarah perjuangan, biografi

·          Imaginative (Imaginasi)

Yaitu membuat cerita imaginative lalu menuliskan peristiwa atau kejadian yang telah terjadi.

Recount text can be factual information, such as a news story or procedural information, such as telling someone how you built something or personal information, such as a family holiday or your opinion on a subject.

4.      Generic Structure of Recount Text:

Orientation     : It is about introduction the participants, place and time. It tells who was involved, what happened, where the events took place, and when it happened.

Events             : Describing series of event that happened in the past. Telling what happened and in what sequence.

Reorientation  : It is optional. It consists of closure of events/ending. It is stating personal comment of the writer to the story

5.      Language features of Recount text :

·         Introducing personal participant; I, we, my group, etc.

·         Using chronological connection; then, first, after that, etc.

·         Using linking verb; was, were, saw, heard, etc.

·         Using action verb; buy, go, speak, etc.

·         Using simple past tense
