Narrative text
Narrative text is an
imaginative story to entertain people.
2. Social
Function of Narrative Text
Social
Function: to amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or vicarious experience
in different ways.

Generic Structure of Narrative Text
1.
Orientation :
sets the scene and introduces the participants.
2.
Complication :
Where the problems in the story developed or a crisis arises.
3.
Resolution :
Where the problem in the story is solved or the crisis is resolved, for better
or for worse.

The
language features of Narrative Text
a.
Use of adjectives to build noun groups to describe the people,
animals or things in the story, such as… a nice, diligent and kind-hearted
man, etc.
b.
Use of time connectives and conjunctions to sequence events through time, such as however,
although, later, then.
c.
Use of adverbs and adverbial phrases to locate the particular events, such as : One day, Once upon a time, Long time ago.
d.
Use of past tenses, such as Aji Saka went to the
kingdom, measured the size of the turban, etc.
e.
Use of action verbs to indicate the actions, such as stood,
explained, provided, smashed.
f.
Use of saying and thinking verbs to indicate what characters are feeling
thinking or saying, such as told, realized, decided.
